When my local Starbucks starts advertising Pumpkin Latte’s, I know that it’s officially “Pumpkin Season”. Trader Joe’s will also have a variety of pumpkin goodies on their shelves now, such as honey-pumpkin roasted ravioli, pumpkin biscotti and chocolate-dipped pumpkin pie bites.

For a healthy, organic alternative with a less sugar and no dairy, I often serve my own pumpkin drink to patients after their session. Since many of my patients ask for the ingredients, I’ve listed them below.

1 can organic pumpkin
1 cup organic coconut milk or coconut cream
1 cup purified water
1 banana
½ cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
¼ teaspoon vanilla
Generous sprinklings of cinnamon and nutmeg
Dash sea salt
Whirl all ingredients together in a blender or Vitamix. Top with extra cinnamon. Serve cool or add some hot water to drink warm.
